San Diego Momma

Sharing some humor, a bit of writing and way too much information

Big Blogger Bonanza (I mean that metaphorically)

Etcetera

Yesterday was big. First, I lunched with lovely Amanda from the Mom Crowd, who was visiting San Diego with her husband and zen baby, Ace. Truly a wonderful time was had by all (well, by me…I don’t have independent verification from all parties involved).

And I have to be honest, I don’t often meet other bloggers, so I was a little nervous. Just before Amanda and I met, I started thinking, “what if she doesn’t think me as fabulous as my blog suggests I am?” or “will she think I have a face for blogging?” But it all worked out and I think she would have to say the answer to both questions was “yes.”

Anyway, Amanda and her family were lovely, and after lunch, we retired to the boardwalk to talk more.

Then, Amanda’s husband manned a video camera while she interviewed me for her site. It was great, I talked about zits and diapers and lovefests (not all at once). Bet you can’t wait to see it (the video won’t be up for weeks yet, just enough time for her to re-think the whole including me on her website thing…)…

Here’s Amanda’s family. Her husband refers to their baby as their “combo burrito.” I loved that. And also… wait…

is that a sleeping baby? I’m going to need a minute. I mean, I’ve heard of sleeping babies in the wild, or in the theoretical sense, but I’ve never seen one up close.

OK, I’m back.

In other news, I take crappy pictures.

I do have verification of this little-known San Diego Momma factoid, as you will soon see. But to continue my post, as I referenced above, I met Amanda for lunch, but FOR dinner, I met five San Diego blogging women who were so stylish, so witty, so insightful that I really felt in my element. I mean, birds of a feather. Totally. Also, we’re all great shoe picker-outters. And writers. Not necessarily in that order.

I had a great time meeting my fellow bloggers. Kate made a wonderful vegetarian dinner, and as we ate, we compared shoes, and told stories. To bring home the point of how awesome last night was, I’d really love to post some great pictures. But see, I, …well let me just show you.

Right, so above, resplendent in red, was our hostess, Kate.

I don’t know, what part do you like best (besides the fabulous hair, glasses, jewelry and shirt?). Is it the way I captured her not looking at the camera, or how I got Cheri, also not looking at the camera, with her arm obscuring her face? It’s a toss-up, right?

DSC_0014.JPG

Oh wait! Here’s another one! Kate again, with a blurry Aaryn.

Oh OK. Now, here’s something a little more stylized. Here, I snapped a candid shot of the back of Jamie’s head, as she took a picture of a dimmed and blurred Jenn.

Wait, that’s not fair to Jamie. I showed everyone else’s faces. So, here you go:

For this one I recreated Cheri’s facial obscura.

Maybe I should stick to words.

So, to sum up: Cheri, Kate, Aaryn, Jamie and Jenn: sweet, funny, insightful, perceptive, intelligent and interesting.

Every single one of them.

Please visit their sites for great writing and quality photographic representation of last evening.

Did I say on my blog that you were good with a camera? Um… maybe I should have said you *looked* good with a camera. :)

So fun. Looking forward to the next time, and the next.

Now I have to go check out your diaper/zit review. Sounds interesting.

Oh. I had such a great time too! It was my first time meeting a blogger too. I think we were both nervous. Honestly it was great discussing blogging stuff that no one else really cares about.

I promise I will try and get the video up soon! Of course, I will definitely let you know when it will be. You were a great interview! And it only took one take. I’m glad because my arm was starting to burn at the end of it from holding the mic.

Your meeting with the other San Diego bloggers looks like fun! I will definitely be checking out their blogs.

Isn’t it fun to meet other bloggers in person! It’s like we all GET each other! Looks like you all had fun and i’m so jealous of your warm San Diego weather. It’s supposed to be in the 40’s here today.

It looks like you all had such a great time. I’m not good at taking pictures so I applaud anyone’s efforts. It takes a lot of bravery for me to post my pics LOL! :)

I’m cracking up over the “face for blogging” remark, too. Good one!
