Sharing some humor, a bit of writing and way too much information

Healthy Living and California Parks

Etcetera

I recently was contacted to do some blogging* for Dannon, and help moderate a healthy living board here. Since I’ve re-committed to health and a bathing suit, I thought this gig would be an excellent fit. Mainly because it’s everything I believe in: getting healthy in mind, body, soul (even if I’m not so good at making it happen every day). The other part of Dannon’s program that appealed to me is that they donated $50,000 to help save California state parks (in major danger of closure) in celebration of the program, and will donate an additional $50,000 at the close of the program if they reach 50,000 pledges to live healthier.

So I wanted to share this program.

*I know that most of YOU know I don’t do many product reviews or endorse stuff because it goes against my “authenticity” grain, but I can tell you with the utmost sincerity, I wouldn’t be a part of this deal if it didn’t represent every molecule of what I take to be important — health, family, respect for our Earth.

If you’re so inclined, the pledge is HERE. Its tenets are simple:

Provide a healthy snack for my family every day

Add more occasions of 30 minutes of fun physical activity

Bring the family together for a healthy dinner

Also, apparently pledge-takers can win a three-day, two-night camping vacation for four to Yosemite National Park (good for people who like camping; I’m working on being a camping-liker) and/or $10 gas cards.

That does not suck, right? Also, I’m not paid for pledges just so you know. Rather, Dannon is compensating me for writing a healthy living post for its website.

Something I’d do anyway. (But don’t tell them that.)

Anyone who gets annoyed by a blogger doing a review can suck it – or they can send money. Or both. ;)

That does not suck! I’m totally going to pledge. I’ve been working on these things and this will help me stay committed.

I did this but had to lie a little. Apparently they don’t want Las Vegan’s to pledge because my LV zip code didn’t work, and neither did 6 others I tried. But when I put in a San Diego zip code it worked. Why does Dannon think only Californian’s care about California? I care about almost every state in the U.S. (kidding, I like ’em all)

You totally don’t have to like camping because in my book, camping is a hotel without room service. Just don’t tell anyone I said that, ok? It makes me look so high maintenance. ;)

I’m totally taking the pledge Deb and I love your commitment to health- inside and out.
