Certified Joss Stalker

I love Joss Whedon. You should too. http://www.drhorrible. com/plan.html Kizz at 117 Hudson turned me on to this, and for that, she’s my new blog stalkee.

PROMPTuesday #13: Finish It

First time to PROMPTuesday? Read a bit about it here. Want to see what’s been written in the past? Catch up on the PROMPTuesdays archive here.   In the meantime, for today’s exercise, I’d love you to add to the sentences provided below. Complete the paragraph and continue the story.   **********************************************************************************   “Wait!” I…Continue Reading

Veggie “Tails”

Would you eat this obscene carrot? Or send it to Las Vegas?

My New Notecards

I can’t even think of one sarcastic or funny thing to say here, as love struck as I am over my new notecards.   Check it:     I actually put my family name here, as in “The San Diego Mommasons.” Original, eh?   Here’s the back of the card:     Myra from Moon…Continue Reading

Why I Wish I Could Sing What I Write

How beautiful would it be to write your words, your truth, then be able to fully bring them to life through your voice, your eyes, your hands?   I’ve often longed to sing certain poems I’ve written and have the words leap, writhe, and bloom physically through me. Like, it’s one thing to write about…Continue Reading

July’s Book Club

This month, we’re reading Third Angel by Alice Hoffman.   Another book by The Hoff I loved: Ice Queen.

Next Book Up

I’m thinking of giving this a whirl — The Secret of Lost Things — by Sheridan* Hay. Has anyone read it? Is it like every other book telling of lost manuscripts and obsessed book sellers?   *Footnote: Sheridan is the fake name I give to Starbucks baristas and put on those required name badges you…Continue Reading

June’s Book Club Book

The Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai. Beautiful writing (sometimes bordering on contrived, but only sometimes), interesting characters, absorbing “larger” theme of cultural clashes.   Recommended…BUT please note there is not much plot resolution. So if this bothers you, you might want to skip it.

Say Hi to The Mom Crowd

My friend Amanda debuted her site’s video podcast series today.   If you’re a soon-to-be- mom, have small kids or know someone who does, they’d love this first episode. And there’s more to come!   Check it out!

Did You Read Myra’s PROMPTuesday?

This scared me. Can you imagine?

UM…

Is it good or bad that in certain circles I’m known as the “gallbladder blog?”

Visited Del Mar’s shops, businesses, restaurants and bars for the Village’s annual Taste and Sip with closest pals. Highlights: learning about Mezcal at @enfuegocantina, sampling new @lalospirits tequila, catching the sunset at @monarchdelmar, amazing ceviche at @coya_peruvian_secret, and the most delicious gluten-free birthday cake from @shanjo! Recommend this for next year - was the best best most good time.
